The Carbondale Tourism Board is responsible for governing the Bureau, the direction of its work and the control of its property. The board consists of one city councilmember and eight members who are selected from the community, representing interests in lodging, retail, nightlife, restaurants, Southern Illinois University- Carbondale, attractions, and a community member at large.
A City Councilmember is also selected to the board. The Board is appointed and approved by Mayor of Carbondale the City Council to recommend contracts, budgets, policies, and operating guidelines for the operation of the Carbondale Tourism Bureau.
