Carbondale – Taryn Bieri, pictured below, is a Southern Illinois University student who donated her original art piece “In the MOOd” to the For Kids’ Sake Art Auction to help children in Bangladesh. Bids on her charming painting of a cow as well as a matched donation from Foley and Denny Law Offices have already totaled $350 – enough money to support an orphan for over eight months!
Come bid on art like Taryn’s and support kids in Bangladesh at the 18th Annual For Kids’ Sake Art Auction Closing Celebration, Friday, April 27, 5-8pm at Longbranch Café & Bakery, 100 East Jackson Street in Carbondale, IL.
The Closing Celebration features over 60 young local artists including students from 17 local schools and organizations. Several pieces are still available at their starting bid prices creating plenty of opportunities to give to the kids in Bangladesh while supporting artists across the Southern Illinois region.
Over 50 businesses have also contributed to the Closing Celebration by donating to five raffle prizes – Eat Out for a Year, Treat Yourself, Beautify, Family Fun, and Car Care. Prizes include over 25 gift certificates to local restaurants, a free zipline tour with Shawnee Bluffs Canopy Tour, a full-sized tree and planting from Greenridge Landscaping, and much more. Tickets can be purchased at Longbranch Café and Bakery at Town Square Market or online at www.forkidssake.net. The winner will be announced at the Closing Celebration.
You will not want to miss your last chance to bid on unique pieces of art, and all of the festivities including live entertainment with a performance from Bosco and Whiteford, Suzuki Babies, Southern Illinois Dance Company and more, a delicious South Asian dinner, henna tattoos, Bangladeshi handicrafts, free kids’ activities, and a heartwarming young artist award ceremony with Carbondale Mayor Mike Henry.
All proceeds from the Art Auction and Closing Celebration will provide basic needs and education to 550 orphans and 4,000 students in Bangladesh. Whether you buy art, enjoy the South Asian dinner, get a henna tattoo or make a donation, you will contribute toward For Kids’ Sake’s annual goal of $200,000.
